There is no single way to teach somebody to drive.

Some learners prefer instructions to be broken down into smaller stages. Others benefit from repetition, visual explanations or being given additional time to process information before carrying out a manoeuvre.

Autism, ADHD and Neurodivergent Driving Lessons in Nottingham

Neurodivergence can affect driving lessons in many different ways.

A learner with ADHD may find maintaining concentration or processing several instructions at once more challenging. An autistic learner may prefer greater structure, consistency and clear explanations. Someone with dyslexia or dyspraxia may benefit from additional repetition or a different way of explaining road positioning, directions or routines.

None of these automatically prevents somebody from becoming a safe and confident driver.

If you would prefer to build up more intensively over a shorter period, our intensive driving courses can also be adapted to suit how you learn.
